Live Performances: Keilah Rose & The Blank Canvas Crew, Phresh James, Prez P & Gaby Duran
No Cover Drink specials all Night! 21+ Keilah Rose Born and raised in Miami Florida, Keilah Rose has developed a passion to perform on any and every stage she can find since October 2010. Keilah Rose started off performing as a Spoken Word Artist at Open Mics such as Stone Groove, Literary Cafe, & Speak Fridays. Host of Miami's Most Diverse Open Mic Robert Lee saw her potential and added her to the Speak Family as a House Poet. Keilah Rose performed nothing but poetry for a year to get rid of her stage fright. Spoken Word came easy to Keilah Rose because of her background in acting. Acting was her first step into performing arts. The more and more Keilah Rose performed she eventually combined poetry with song. Chasing after the heart of her audience, Keilah Rose is a hopeless romantic. Her style of music is a fusion of jazz, indie, and pop. As a single mother she has an inevitable desire to make it to the big screens. When Keilah Rose isn't performing she's auditioning for major singing competitions such as Americas Got Talent, The Voice, The X-factor, and more. After 3 years of perfecting and reinventing herself as an artist Keilah Rose made it to The World Famous Apollo Theater and will be performing April 17, 2013. In the meanwhile, she will be waiting with high hopes for a call back from Americas Got Talent and writing music for her upcoming project I Am Wonderland. Phresh James Promising to just "simply progress", Phresh James brings a new level of smooth to South Florida music. Born and raised in Miami, Phresh is simply an old soul. His music and style just show a sign of maturity and willingness to keep growing. And believe it or not, artists like Phresh James just show us that its okay to be a rapper out of Miami and not have a southern drawl over southern-infused beats. Prez-P 25 year old, North Miami native Prez P first emerged onto the underground rap scene in Miami with his group Da Camp in 2011 with their mixtape: 7 Day Weekend: Campin Out In A RV followed by 7 Day Weekend: Bumpin olDCool, Da Campilation and their biggest album thus far VII Day Vacay which was voted 2012 mixtape of the year by the Miami blog the305.com. Now as Prez steps away from the group to do some solo work he presents DreamSucceeDie, a body of work with production from various Miami producers like Numonics, Mr. Manuvers, Benny B and features from his Miami peers Phresh James, J Nics, RansomNote and more. Gaby Duran Best kept secrets don't remain under wraps for long, especially if that hidden gem is Gaby Duran. With a voice as sultry as it is powerful and influences spanning a vast musical spectrum, Duran has captured audiences from all walks of life. The Manhattan-born, Miami-raised singer/songwriter began to chisel her craft in performing arts schools at an early age, further continuing her studies at Berklee College of Music. Since then she has been featured on records with Dead Prez, Yung Skeeter, & Miami Beat Wave and has opened up for acts like Sam Sparro, Questlove, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, & Shabazz Palaces. Aside from working with many up and coming artists in Miami's music scene, Gaby Duran is also part of production crew, Grassman. The songstress is currently working on her much anticipated first EP. |

Gentlemen $10 21+ Drink Specials All Night! Miami’s ultimate Latin funk fusion jam band. Funk cruises through the Caribbean picking up Afro sounds from Cuba and Puerto Rico. Reggae meets rock in a head-on collision. Jazz and electro hook up for a sidewalk makeout session. Hip-hop seems to hum from the very pavement, and R&B drifts in on the night wind. Suenalo reaches to far-flung corners and retrieves all these, takes them and mashing them together, marrying them—disparate players melded into a somehow harmonious blend. It defies logic that such diverse influences can find balance at the deft hands of one band. And yet they do. |

Get yours before they sell out! Be sure to check out Massive Wednesdays, where Massive Ideas brings an amazing show to The Stage every single Wednesday night! This week we will be shifting the party to Tuesday for Emancipator, so be sure to come on the right night! THERE WILL BE NO MASSIVE IDEAS EVENT AT THE STAGE ON 2/13 http://www.facebook.com/groups/171069149683894/ Emancipator brings his Winter Tour 2013 to Miami at The Stage, with support by the legendary Random Rab and Tor, the first artist signed to Emancipator's new label Loki Records. This show will feature Ilya Goldberg on live violin and a brand new projection-mapping setup! Brought to you by Massive Ideas with support by Bakers Dozen. Emancipator www.emancipator.bandcamp.com/ To some, it must seem like this young electronic producer came out of nowhere this year. Emancipator played his first live show in July 2009, opening for Bonobo at the Roseland Theater (cap. 1500). Since then, he’s toured with Bassnectar, STS9, Pretty Lights, drawn crowds at festivals like Trinumeral and Symbiosis, and closed out Sound Tribe Sector 9’s late night parties in Denver at the request of the band. But those in the know have been following Emancipator since he self-released his first album, Soon It Will Be Cold Enough, at the age of 19 in 2006. His agile melodies layered over headnodic, immaculately-produced beats captivated fans across the internet and across the world. “Soon It Will Be Cold Enough” was picked up by Japanese super-producer Nujabes, pressed in Japan and sold 5,000 copies in the first six months. Emancipator landed a Puma sponsorship, gave an interview to Rolling Stone Japan, discovered one of his songs was played at the Beijing Olympics (still trying to figure out how that happened) and his song “Shook,” a mashup that perfectly mixes Mobb Deep’s mighty raps with a haunting track from the Icelandic band Sigur Ros, become the highest-rated song on Hype Machine’s “Best 50 Songs of 2007,” and appeared on Hype Machine as the #2 most popular song in April 2009. His latest album “Safe In The Steep Cliffs” blends new instrumentation and organic samples with the signature Emancipator style of clean production, silky melodies and addictive drums. Dense layers of choirs, horns, American folk instruments such as the banjo and mandolin, violin and some distinct Asian influences make for a playful but refined album built out of intricate tracks listeners can enjoy on as many levels as they want. Dance to it, chill out to it, immerse your mind in it. Random Rab www.soundcloud.com/random-rab Emerging from his own distinct corner of the West Coast electronic music scene, Random Rab offers a powerful and unique contribution to sonic exploration. Often referred to as “The Master of Emotion” his music is patently beautiful and melodic. With diverse influences ranging from trip‐hop, classical and Arabic to bass driven compositions, his songs are considered anthemic and timeless. As a multiinstrumentalist and singer, his tracks are organic, uplifting and stand on their own as a distinct genre. Listeners of all types of music can find something they can relate to in his sound. There is no doubt that Rab understands a multitude of musical styles. He has been the front man of a heavy metal band, toured as a classical trumpet player, played bass in a country music band, was a scratch DJ for a jazz fusion project, was the singer for a rock band in Mexico and has collaborated with countless musicians of all styles. From acoustic performances in the Himalayas to rocking packed clubs in New York, Random Rab has found a way to connect with people of all kinds. With a dedicated fanbase born from the San Francisco underground, Random Rab has become a Burning Man legend known for his sunrise sets that have now become one of his most sought after performances. His current popularity can often be traced to his breakout album, The Elucidation of Sorrow.. This album firmly established him as a recognizable force in the electronic music scene. His latest and 4th album aRose, catapulted him into the state of momentum that is now taking hold internationally. Sometimes performing solo and at other times featuring collaborative musicians, the live experience is focused on a high quality translation of sound that is simultaneously sexy and psychedelic. Tor www.tormusic.net Tor was raised in a small mountain town on Canada's west coast where he started experimenting with music production as a teenager. He further honed his skills while living in Australia, running a small recording studio and remixing some prominent Australian producers. He later produced the Sufjan Stevens hip hop mashup album 'Illinoize', which garnered a lot of critical and audience acclaim. Now based in Vancouver and inspired by the positive feedback he received from his previous projects, he decided to finally produce the album he had been wanting to make for almost 10 years: 'Drum Therapy'. It combines layers of downtempo melodic beats, organic instrumentation, and the unmistakable sounds of dusty samples. For the album, Tor mined everything from 60’s Italian film scores and long-lost Turkish psych records, to Celtic folk hymns, exotic eastern instruments and deep south gospel. He also played many of the non-sampled elements himself, and treated the sounds to give them the warmth & texture he had always wanted the album to have. Tor is the first artist signed to Emancipator’s newly minted label ‘Loci Records’, and is continuing to perform live after adapting his music for multiple festival performances over the summer of 2012. |
