CARBON LEAF
“Virginia natives Carbon Leaf weave their signature indie-rock blend of Celtic, Appalachian, folk, and country into a rousing new brand of music best described as ‘ether-electrified porch music’.

The five-man band's steadfast arrangement of guitar, bass, drums, and mandolin is rounded out with more exotic instruments, like the bouzouki, fiddle, accordion and penny whistle, all tied together by lead singer Barry Privett's bold, straightforward baritone.

Long beloved in their hometown of Richmond and known for high-energy live shows, the group entered onto the national scene in 2002 by winning an American Music Award with the Irish-tinged hit “The Boxer,” a narrative about a fighter who's at the top of his game but scraping the bottom of love's barrel.

Pioneering dreams, broken hearts, Love’s renewal - all traverse the American landscape as common themes in Carbon Leaf's music, as is reflected in the dark, bluesy “Another Man's Woman,” and “Miss Hollywood,” a Southern-twanged ballad about the angst of dating an enormous sign.”

Native Run
Native Run is Rachel Beauregard and Bryan Dawley, both born and raised with deep roots in the Virginia commonwealth. It all started in a tiny, red practice room at their local Virginia venue, Jammin Java. Though a young band, after hitting the road for two years straight they're no rookies to the stage. Wearing their hearts on their sleeves, Beauregard and Dawley bring a chemistry to the stage that is unparalleled.

Collectively, they bear influences from Shakespeare to Springsteen, and from Patsy Cline to Keith Urban. Hailed by Paste Magazine as "The Best of What's Next", it is no surprise that the duo is now taking Nashville by storm. Native Run will be gracing the stage this fall at the Austin City Limits Music Festival.

Miami’s ultimate Latin funk fusion jam band. Funk cruises through the Caribbean picking up Afro sounds from Cuba and Puerto Rico. Reggae meets rock in a head-on collision. Jazz and electro hook up for a sidewalk makeout session. Hip-hop seems to hum from the very pavement, and R&B drifts in on the night wind. Suenalo reaches to far-flung corners and retrieves all these, takes them and mashing them together, marrying them—disparate players melded into a somehow harmonious blend. It defies logic that such diverse influences can find balance at the deft hands of one band. And yet they do.

Saturday Night Nov 24 - New Times Presents - Brendan O'Hara!!!!!

Made in Miami. Using the most adept musicians, Brendan O’Hara has assembled a band as eclectic and energetic as the Magic City itself. Funky and lyrical- with in the pocket drums, sensitive-soul- spiced bass, with Division One University tight horns that gel sweetly and solo swiftly…The backing band's sound surrounds this singer-songwriter who performs as if it’s the last time he’ll touch a microphone. Jumping between piano and guitar throughout the set- the sound slides from old school R&B to Rock and Roll
with obvious elements of Jazz and Soul story telling…We call this Roots-Rock-Street-lounge. A sound steeped in an older Era- like Bitters and Bourbon, Tonic and Gin, yet infused with the raw perspective of the New Millenium. Gaining the respect of South Florida’s regional community, and fans from New York to New Orleans, the sound is homemade and ready to travel. NBC, The Miami Herald, Ocean Drive, Miami Modern Luxury, the Village Voice syndication- They have all made note! The accolades have been bestowed both for their creatively concocted sound- part urban/part tropical- and their approach to the ever evolving landscape of the new music ‘bidness, so you’re bound to catch Brendan O’Hara & his big band just about any where- The candle lit speak easy, pool side well past sunset , or Center Stage- until the light’s go out.
