About Dumpstaphunk:
Dumpstaphunk's musicians have shared the stage with many legendary figures. Ivan and Ian‚ the sons of Neville Brothers Aaron and Art Neville respectively‚ seem to play their instruments flawlessly, and the dirty funk resonates organically from their souls as the offspring and kin of the legendary New Orleans Neville Brothers family. Ivan has either recorded or performed with includes The Rolling Stones‚ Bonnie Raitt‚ The Neville Brothers, Gov't Mule‚ John Mayer, Keith Richards and The X-pensive Winos, to name a few. Guitarist, Ian Neville has played with the likes of Funky Meters, Lettuce & Dr. Klaw with Eric Krasno of Soulive, and recently sitting in and adding some flavor to the Southern Cali reggae fusion of Slightly Stoopid. Nikki Glaspie, Dumpsta’s newest addition, has performed with BeyoncĂ©, Cee Lo Green, Me'Shell Ndgeocello, Vernon Reid, Maceo of De La Soul, Vernon Reid of Living Colour, and numerous Jazzfest cameos with Meters bassist George Porter Jr., Karl Denson and Soulive.

Dumpstaphunk has unleashed notable performances at some of the nation's largest festivals including Bonnaroo, VoodooFest, 10,000 Lakes, New Orleans Jazzfest 2005-2011, Bear Creek, Wanee, High Sierra, All Good, JamCruise 2011, Gathering of the Vibes, Ottawa Blues Festival, Dave Matthews Band Caravan and Monterey Jazz Festival.

ART BASEL PARTY!!!!! Thursday Night -Dec 1st - Spam All Stars!!!!!! AND!!!! Then BIG SAM'S FUNKY NATION from NOLA!!!

THIS IS SPAM ALL-STARS!!!! Friday at The Stage!!!

THEN...

DJ Le Spam & Spam Allstars blend improvisational electronic elements and turntables with latin, funk, hip hop and dub to create what they call an electronic descarga. It’s not a known genre. It’s hard to describe. It attracts many types of people. But as they look out and see people dancing salsa, next to break-dancers, and festival-goers driving for hours to catch a show -- they know something very special is going on.

Spam Allstars were formed by Andrew Yeomanson, a/k/a DJ Le Spam, who was raised in Toronto, Bogota and London, and has called Miami home since 1993. He got his start by playing guitar in Haitian band Lavalas, and recording and touring with Miami based artist Nil Lara. Along the way he added to his vinyl collection, and when off the road he would DJ locally. These DJ gigs evolved into collaborations with live musicians, performing on an internet radio show, recording in his home studio, and the first of many residencies combining his samplers & DJ skills with a live band.

In 2002, Spam Allstars began a weekly residency at Hoy Como Ayer in Little Havana, which continues today. In 2003 they started monthly residencies in New York City, Gainesville, Tampa, Atlanta, and New Orleans, and playing nationally wherever people would host them. Today they perform 200+ shows, and average 56,000 miles each year. They still do the weekly in Little Havana, and have monthlies in Miami and Miami Beach.

Big Sam's Funky Nation is a driving force of urban funk. Ryan White, of the Oregonian, says the band is "tight enough (and hot enough) to turn coal into a diamond!" The band is led by trombone powerhouse, Big Sam Williams, formerly the trombonist for the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, who the San Francisco Chronicle calls "the top man on the slide trombone in the birthplace of jazz." Big Sam refuses to let the audience sit still. Between the band's solos, Big Sam's signature dance moves and his distinctive trombone riffs, the energy level is high voltage when this band takes the stage!

"Big Sam's Funky Nation is in rare company as far as their ability to incite a huge dance-a-thon, and their set included his take on "Hard To Handle" and the declaration that Sam is the king of the Jazz Fest [2011] party." Wesley Hodges, Jambase

Thursday Oct 13th - Direct from New Orleans.... BRASS-A-HOLICS!!!!!

http://www.brass-a-holics.com/main.html
In the year 2010, a brand new sound was born. The Brass-A-Holics Band and the Go-go Brass Funk genre joined the ranks of the time honored traditions, culture and music that have come out of the great city of New Orleans, Louisiana.

The ensemble contains the core New Orleans brass elements - trumpet, trombone, saxophone and sousaphone, but also adds a full drum set, percussion, keyboard, and an electric guitar for a unique sound that is transcending the traditional world of brass band music. A Brass-A-Holics live show is a singular experience. Where else can you hear the influences of Miles Davis, Nirvana, John Coltrane, Wham, Cyndi Lauper, Kanye West, and Louis Armstrong all in one set?

The band was conceived by renowned trombonist Winston Turner, whose roots stem from the St. Augustine High School Marching 100, the Southern University Human Jukebox, The Pinstripes Brass Band, and The Soul Rebels Brass Band. He created the "Go-go Brass Funk" genre by merging the unrivaled New Orleans brass sound with Washington, DC's funky Go-go groove and topping off this instrumental gumbo with a personal touch of keys and strings. This uniquely diverse band consists of 8 members: Winston Turner, Tannon Williams, Matt Clark, Jason "Slick" Slack, Keiko Komaki, Robin Clabby, Rickey Caesar, and Dwayne Muhammad. Although there are differences in culture, style, and swagger within this band, the members of the Brass-A-Holics collectively bring to you a unique sound that is unparalleled to anything you have ever heard!

Be warned that this sound is a powerful substance, both addictive and intoxicating. It is guaranteed that you will find yourself partying under the influence and addicted to the Brass-A-Holic sound!

"I AM……A BRASS-A-HOLIC"

ALLLLLLL THE INFO on the Big Bad Brass Party Weekend!!! Hot 8 Brass Band! Suenalo! Locos Por Juana!

THE STAGE PRESENTS THE HOT 8 BRASS BAND, SUÉNALO AND LOCOS POR JUANA IN A WEEKEND-LONG BIG BAD BRASS PARTY CELEBRATING NEW ORLEANS AND MIAMI’S UNIQUE MUSICAL CULTURE!

The Big Bad Brass Weekend will feature Miami’s Best ‘Po Boys, Live Painting andCrowd-Stomping Music Thursday, September 29th through Saturday, October 1st

Voted by the Miami New Times as Miami’s Best Live Music Venue, The Stage, announces a weekend-long party celebrating New Orleans and Miami’s unique musical flavorings with NOLA’s The Hot 8 Brass Band, SuĂ©nalo (Miami Best Latin Band 2011) and Grammy-Nominated Locos Por Juana. Big Bad Brass Party Weekend at The Stage is sure to delight the senses with musical performances, live painting, drink specials and delicious Cajun culinary delights from The Rum Cake Factory serving up Miami’s Best ‘Po Boys and more.

The Hot 8 Brass Band, a NOLA favorite, is most notably known for their contagious brass infused hip-hop, funk, and jazz and have toured internationally bringing their music and message to the masses. The Hot 8 Brass Band, like all of New Orleans, has had its share of tragedy in the aftermath of Katrina. Hot 8’s work with the Finding Our Folk Tour has brought music to evacuee shelters, temporary trailer parks, and to communities throughout the US that have provided a temporary home to displaced New Orleans’ families. Their efforts were featured on CNN, Nightline, New York Times, HBO and Spike Lee’s Katrina documentary “When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts.” In addition to displacement caused by the storm and subsequent violence and uncertainty contained therein, drummer Dinerral Shavers was shot and killed in late 2006 while driving with his wife and child in New Orleans. In addition, two other members of the band have lost their lives due to violence on the city streets. In response to these tragic setbacks, The Hot 8 Brass Band uses their passion for music and social outreach led to an integral role contributing to the success of the Finding Our Folk Tour.

Joining NOLA's The Hot 8 Brass Band are two of Miami's homegrown favorites with Suénalo (Friday) and Locos Por Juana (Saturday) for a Big Bad Brass collision of Miami and New Orleans best big band sounds.

ALL THAT DANCING MIGHT MAKE YOU HUNGRY:
The Stage is proud to partner with The Rum Cake Factory, voted Miami New Times’ Best ‘Po Boy!

The Rum Cake Factory’s Big Bad Brass Party Menu / Friday and Saturday Only

Miami’s Best ‘Po Boys: Fried Catfish, Shrimp or Chicken in French Bread, Lettuce Tomatoes and RĂ©moulade
Smoked Chicken Wings: “Mildy smoked, spot-on tasty!”
Rum Cake: Baked Golden Brown and Basted with a Warm Wonderfully Rich Buttered Rum and Walnut Glaze. (Sorry, we already tried to get the recipe by all means. It’s a family secret!)

Don’t let the name fool you; The Rum Cake Factory creates some of the best Cajun food in town. Husband-wife owners and dynamic-duo Larry and Elena Robinson began catering in 2002 with Larry cooking the food he grew up with in Louisiana. The rum cake, his mother's recipe, took on a life of its own and remains the signature item at the couple's cozy little North Miami Beach shop. But we're putting the dessert in front of the fine Cajun/soul-food specialties. Like fried shrimp or catfish in baskets or the same cleanly fried items in po'boys made on soft French bread shipped in from New Orleans. Fried turkey and pulled pork get stuffed into po'boys with their delicious rĂ©moulade sauce, and don't miss the smoked chicken wings -- crisp, mildly smoked, and juicy. Jambalaya and delectable barbecue ribs make it as blackboard specials during the week, and if you're lucky, you'll catch the peerless gumbo. More information at www.therumcakefactory.com. The Rum Cake Factory is located at 2075 NE 163rd St. in North Miami Beach.
